PURPOSE OF INCORPORATION

The company, ACEI Systems Sdn Bhd, was incorporated in 1991 under the name of Applied Control Electrical Industries Sdn Bhd. The founders of the company were two well-known local companies at that time and the principal activities included electrical contracting, trading and services. ACEI commenced business activity in 1993.

PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN AND SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED

The first project undertaken by the company was in 1993 when the company secured an order of USD376,400 to supply hazadous equipment to the Nigerian Gas Project in Nigeria, Africa, to an international company in Singapore. Equipment supplied included switchboards, cable and cabling accessories, indoor and outdoor lighting poles and fittings, control devices and various electrical accessories. The project was successfully completed in 1995.

In 1994, the company also secured an order of USD502,441 to supply electrical equipment to a mining company in Sierra Leone, Africa. The electrical equipment comprised high and low voltage switchboards, motor control centers, lighting equipment, variable speed drives and various miscellaneous control and wiring accessories. The order was fulfilled in 1995.

In 1995, Reliance Automation of Australia awarded an installation and erection contract worth USD245,391 to ACEI. The actual work involved the design, supply, erect and commissioning of all the cable-runs for a paint coating plant. The work was successfully completed in December 1996. Other foreign companies also awarded to ACEI some interfacing works worth RM260,000 in that project.

In 1997, the company secured a turnkey contract of RM3.2 million to dismantle all electrical equipment on board a dredge in Malaysia and then re-erect them in Kalimantan, Indonesia. Electrical equipment comprised electronic variable speed drive systems, high and low voltage switchboards, motor-control centers, motor and cables, cable trays and conduits, light fittings and all control accessories. The project was successfully completed in year 2000.

From 1996 to 2006, ACEI has successfully installed and commissioned more than 80 BEN fault and power quality recorders in Tenaga Nasional Berhad’s 132kV, 275kV & 500kV transmission networks. From 2003, ACEI has successfully installed and commissioned five BEN fault recorders to the Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) and Sarawak Electricity Supply Corporation (SESCO) which are located in East Malaysia.

CHANGE IN PRINCIPAL OWNERSHIP

The recorders, better known as BEN Fault Recorders, are electronic instruments previously manufactured by LEM Instruments but recently acquired by Qualitrol Corporation, a US based leader in manufacturing and supplier of instruments to utilities worldwide.

ACEI was retained as the sole distributor of BEN and Qwave Power Quality recorders in Malaysia during the acquisition, in addition to being appointed as sole distributor of Qualitrol’s Fault and Travelling Wave recorders by Qualitrol Corporation. ACEI now represents and deals with well-known BRANDS such as LEM Components, FLUKE Instruments and MIWA systems in Malaysia.

FUTURE PLANS

Based on the current sales and project implementation records, ACEI is projecting a substantial expansion potential in both the West and East Malaysia. Hence, ACEI continues to pursue the electrical & electronics business for which the company is competent, and will also intensify its operations in East Malaysia as well as expand its business activities to other ASEAN countries.
